New Skoda Kodiaq: first images

The Czech brand is preparing a new generation of its flagship crossover, and teasers of the future novelty have already been published. Using them, we decided to form our own idea of ​​the appearance of the car.

Skoda Kodiaq of the first and only generation so far appeared in the fall of 2016, becoming the serial version of the VisionS concept, demonstrated in March of the same year. In the spring of 2021, the crossover received a restyling, and now a new generation model is being tested at the final stage. The first teasers were published at the end of April, and last week new images of the model in camouflage were added to them.

While the body of the new Kodiaq is almost completely hidden under a camouflage film, however, the main features of the appearance can already be seen. The overall proportions of the body will remain about the same, as will the styling of the front end with «two-story» headlights. At the same time, the shape of the optics and the radiator grille will change slightly, and the hood will become a little flatter with a slightly concave central part (in the current model it is convex). But the differences are already clearly visible in the side view: the shape of the side glazing will be updated due to the ascending window sill line, and the sidewalls will become almost flat in the upper part, and a boomerang-shaped stamping will appear from below. The lanterns will be located noticeably higher than on the current model, their shape is still hidden under camouflage, but we have depicted one of the possible design options.

The next generation crossover will be built on the upgraded MQB platform that the current Kodiaq uses. Despite the general electrification, the novelty will retain internal combustion engines, which will be upgraded to comply with Euro 7 environmental standards.

The premiere of the novelty is expected in the fall this year.

Meanwhile, earlier Skoda announced several new products at once, at least four of which are expected this year.
