The three-row SUV of the Japanese premium brand can have a cabin designed for either six riders or seven. The model is intended for the North American market.
The names Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX were registered by the American division of the Japanese company a few years ago. Even then it was reported that they would be assigned to a pair of related large crossovers, and North American would become their main market. The first model from the duo – Grand Highlander – was presented in early February 2023. Now it's the turn of the “twin” – Lexus TX debuted.

The novelty of the premium Japanese brand has received its own design. The family “spindle-shaped” radiator grill has sunk into oblivion, it was replaced by a large trapezoidal “grill” with horizontal stripes, painted in body color. The brand logo is located under the edge of the embossed hood, on the sides there are headlights with large LED running lights. A laconic air intake with a pattern in the form of thin black horizontal lines is integrated into the lower part of the front bumper, and there are “foglights” on the sides. png” />In profile, traditional door handles and side mirrors are visible, as well as slightly “squared” wheel arches. The standard version is equipped with 20-inch wheels, richer options are offered with 22-inch wheels. The stern of the Lexus TX also differs in design from the Toyota Grand Highlander. So, the model has a “floating” roof (the effect is created due to black pillars), as well as other rear lights connected to each other across the entire width of the fifth door by a wide luminous plate on which the brand name is located.

The overall length of the new large Lexus crossover is 5160 or 5170 mm (depending on version), width – 1990 mm, height – 1780 mm, and the distance between the axles of this SUV is 2950 mm. By comparison, the Toyota twin is 44/54mm shorter, the width and height are almost the same, and the wheelbase is 4mm shorter. It is also worth noting that the novelty turned out to be larger in all respects than the retired “stretched” Lexus RX L (5000 x 1895 x 1710 mm, wheelbase – 2790 mm).
The three-row Lexus TX interior can be designed for either six or seven riders. In the first case, he has two captain's chairs, separated by a removable console with cup holders and several additional compartments. In the second case, the middle row is a triple sofa. The interior is decorated in a minimalist style, on the front panel of the crossover you can see a digital instrument with a diagonal of 12.3 inches, and in the center there is a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. For a surcharge, you can get multi-colored interior lighting and premium Mark Levinson acoustics with 21 speakers.At the heart of the Lexus TX is the modular GA-K platform. As expected earlier, the novelty has three “filling” options, and they turned out to be more powerful than the related Toyota Grand Highlander. The basic version – TX 350 – received under the hood a four-cylinder turbo engine with a volume of 2.4 liters with a capacity of 279 hp, its maximum torque is 429 Nm (these figures are 10 hp and 9 Nm more than that of a large Toyota crossover ). The pair is offered with an eight-speed “automatic”, the drive is front or all-wheel drive.
The medium version – TX 500h – is equipped with a hybrid installation, which is based on a 2.4-liter turbo engine, working in tandem with an electric motor and a six-speed “automatic”. The total output of this system is 371 hp. and 554 Nm (4 hp and 12 Nm more than the Grand Highlander). The model received a Direct4 all-wheel drive system.

The top version, the TX 500h+ plug-in hybrid, has the same all-wheel drive system, and the power plant is based on a V6 engine volume of 3.5 liters, working complete with a variator. So far, the company has not disclosed all the data about this “stuffing”. It is known that the total power of the system is 412 hp, and the maximum torque is not specified. The power reserve of the crossover without recharging purely on electric traction is 53 km. It should be noted that Toyota's “twin” does not have such a modification.

The Lexus TX will be produced at the facilities of the Toyota plant, which is located in Princeton (Indiana). At the same time, the TX 350 and TX 500h versions will enter the market in the coming autumn, and the TX 550h + plug-in hybrid will appear at dealers later, there are no more specific dates yet. The manufacturer will announce prices closer to the start of sales.
