The premiere of the new generation “five” has recently taken place, and now the Bavarian company is preparing its top modification with the M5 index. Using the available spy photos, the online magazine kolesa.ru made up its own idea of the appearance of the future novelty.
The history of the 5 series began in 1972, when the first generation of the sedan with the factory index E12 appeared. The most powerful version of the M5 was first introduced only in the second generation (E28), since then it has been present in every generation of the model. The latest generation of the “five”, which premiered at the end of last month, will not be an exception. Like previous generations of the Emka, one of the most striking distinguishing features of the novelty will be noticeably extended wheel arches – both front and rear. A new massive bumper with an original design and a large air intake will appear in the front, and a new radiator grille with horizontal bars will also be made for sure (as on other new “emkas” of the brand). The car will receive new mirrors with “ears” and modified thresholds, which are likely to be painted in body color, unlike the usual fifth series. At the back, a classic BMW exhaust system with four round pipes and a diffuser between them, a new bumper and a spoiler on the trunk lid.

Like the previous generation, the new “five” is built on the CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform. As for the power plant, it is expected that it will be similar to that installed on the flagship BMW XM crossover. It is equipped with a 4.4-liter gasoline V8 biturbo paired with an electric motor, the total output is 653 hp. and 800 Nm of torque. Of course, the performance of the new M5 may differ, but in any case they should be higher than that of the most powerful “five” at the moment – the i5 M60 with two electric motors with a total power of 601 hp. (820 Nm).
