The Discovery Sport compact family crossover is the oldest and most affordable model in the Land Rover range, its release began in 2014, the first Discovery Sport underwent restyling in 2019, in 2020 it got a plug-in hybrid modification, and now another batch of new things has arrived.
JLR recently decided to split the Land Rover brand into three separate brands – Range Rover, Defender and Discovery, while the Land Rover logo, after wrangling with fans of the brand, decided to keep it, it will still be present on all cars, but less intrusive than earlier: for example, the updated Discovery Sport retained the Land Rover emblem on the front end, but it was removed from the stern and from the passenger compartment.

The exterior design of the Discovery Sport during the second restyling is almost has not changed, the easiest way to identify the updated model is by the radiator grille: it has become solid, without horizontal division, the hexagons forming it have become larger and more rounded. In the rich trim levels of Dynamic SE and Dynamic HSE, the front bumper has acquired side horizontal fangs. In addition, the color palette and design of regular wheels have been updated.

Inside, the changes are much more noticeable. The center console has been completely redesigned and stripped of physical keys: the old 10.25-inch touch screen has been replaced by a new curved 11.4-inch one with the latest version of the Pivi Pro operating system, which, thanks to the side panels, gives access to 90% of all functions with one touch. There is no longer a separate microclimate unit, but additional space for small items under the multimedia screen has been freed up. A new, more compact automatic transmission mode selector has appeared on the central tunnel. A digital instrument cluster is now standard on all versions, a new fine cabin air purification system has been introduced, and a panoramic glass roof is offered for an extra charge.
The Discovery Sport is still offered with a 7-passenger cabin, but it can't be paired with the P300e's plug-in hybrid powertrain, which eats up a lot of the rear. The plug-in hybrid has a new battery with a capacity of 14.9 kWh (previously it was 15 kWh), the WLTP electric range has decreased from 62 to 61 km, in real operation JLR promises up to 47 km on a single charge. The maximum battery charging power is 50 kW, it can charge the battery from 0 to 80% in half an hour.
In electric mode, the Discovery Sport P300e is powered by an 80 kW (109 hp) electric motor mounted on the rear axle. In hybrid mode, the front-mounted 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine (200 hp) is paired with an 8-speed “automatic” located in front. The maximum cumulative output of the hybrid power plant is 309 hp. and 540 Nm.

An alternative to the plug-in hybrid – 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel engines equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid makeweight. There are two diesel versions – D165 (163 hp) and D200 (204 hp), there are also two petrol versions – P200 (200 hp) and P250 (249 hp), gearbox – only 9- step “automatic”, drive – only full. There are no more manual and front-wheel drive versions.
In Europe, sales of the updated Discovery Sport already started, prices in Germany start at €60,200 for the diesel version of the D165 in the expensive Dynamic SE trim, while the base S trim is now only available with the P300e plug-in hybrid powertrain and starts at €62,000.
