The production of the «novelty» will be launched in the same place, at the BelGee Belarusian plant, the company expects that the SUV will appear before the end of the current
The Geely Coolray compact crossover has been on the home market since 2018 (although it is sold here under the name Binyue). The SUV, based on the BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture) platform, reached the Russian Federation in 2020. Today it is one of the most popular models in the Russian Federation: for example, according to the results of May, this SUV closed the top three leaders, leaving only Lada Granta and Haval Jolion behind (according to Avtostat).

The production of this model is established at the facilities of the BelGee Belarusian plant, Geely Atlas Pro and Tugella crossovers, which are also present on the Russian market, are also produced here. As General Director of the plant Gennady Svidersky said on STV channel, BelGee is going to release the first passenger car under its own brand — BelGee.
In fact, we are talking about expanding the license for the production of Chinese crossovers. According to Gennady Svidersky, the rejection of the Chinese brand will make it possible to deepen the level of localization of production without coordination with Geely. He explained that in addition to local welding, painting and assembly, the manufacturer will also be able to use localized components.
During a meeting of Belarusian owners of Geely cars, Sergey Khudoeshko, Deputy Director of SZAO BelGee, said that starting from the second half of this year, the plant will produce “a car that everyone loved, which used to be called Coolray”, while it will be given a new name — BelGee X50 .

By the way, the name for the novelty is probably not taken from the ceiling. The fact is that the Proton X50 crossover is now on sale in Malaysia: this model is a slightly altered Coolray. The Proton brand itself is Malaysian, the shares are owned by the Chinese holding company Geely. Here, under the names Proton X70 and Proton X90, Geely Boyue (in the Russian Federation it is Atlas Pro) and Geely HaoYue (export name is Okavango, but it is not represented on the Russian market) are also sold.
Still unknown whether the Belarusian crossover BelGee X50 will receive any differences from the original Geely Coolray, except, obviously, logos (and the promised localized components).
In the Russian market, the current Geely Coolray crossover is presented with only one engine, we are talking about a gasoline 1.5- 150 hp liter «turbo engine», which comes with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two «wet» clutches. Drive — only front. According to the official website of the brand, the recommended retail price of the basic version is 2,299,990 rubles, and the purchase of the top version will cost 2,709,990 rubles.
