The debut market for the SUV will be China, where sales will start at the end of the year. Later, export deliveries may well be established.
For the first time illuminated back in March, the new generation Haval H5 frame all-terrain vehicle today stood on the conveyor of a Chinese plant. Recall that before this index belonged to a car that was a modernized version of the Great Wall Hover. The original SUV debuted in 2005, based on the Isuzu Axiom; later, the Hover H3 was made from the “just” Hover, followed by the Hover H5 with a different design. In Russia, the SUV was first produced as the Great Wall (Irito was responsible for the assembly), then under the DW Hower brand, already at the Stavropol-Avto plant (there was a connection with the Derways company at the level of the founders). And in 2020, the production of the Haval H5 was organized at the Tula plant, but our rather outdated all-terrain vehicle did not last long.

The new “five” is made on the basis of the Great Wall Poer KingKong pickup truck, and in terms of dimensions it is comparable to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. The length of such a Haval H5 is 5190 mm, the width is 1905 mm, the height is 1835 mm, the distance between the axles is the same 3140 mm, as in the truck (more precisely, we are talking about the «short» King Kong). Passport ground clearance of the SUV is 200 mm, approach angle is 25 degrees, wading depth is 600 mm.

The kinship with the pickup truck can also be traced in the design: the passenger SUV got headlights of a similar shape, the same embossed hood, mirror housings and side stampings. But the grille and taillights are original.
Inside, the Haval H5 almost copied King Kong, except that the central tunnel was redone, a box selector appeared, like the Tank 300, and the screen of the multimedia system became larger (12.3 inches versus 10.25 inches for the Great Wall Poer KingKong). Plus, the finishing materials have been replaced. It is curious that the SUV has so far been announced exclusively in a five-seater version. However, it is possible that a three-row version will be added later.

New Haval H5 will be offered with a 2.0 petrol turbo engine (218 hp, according to other sources, the output will be 197 hp) and a turbodiesel of the same volume (122 hp). Boxes — six-speed mechanics or eight-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is a classic Part-Time with a hard-wired front axle.

In China, sales start in the fourth quarter. Prices have not yet been announced, local media outlets believe that the SUV will cost somewhere between $14,000 and $21,000. Most likely, the Haval H5 will subsequently be exported, so we should not exclude the possibility of its appearance in Russia — at least we have a related Great Wall Poer KingKong pickup truck. If the new SUV is given a «green light» in the Russian Federation, then it will obviously be cheaper than another alternative to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 from the Great Wall concern — the Tank 500 (from 5,399,000 rubles).
