The elongated BMW X5 turned out to be a bestseller, as expected: in January-July this year, according to the CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), its sales in China amounted to 55,020 units. Only plug-in hybrid Li L7 (55,803 units) and Li L8 (55,939 units) are sold better in the class of large premium SUVs. It is curious that the global BMW X5 also has a plug-in hybrid modification with a very solid electric range of 110 km, but it is not yet produced in China.
The global BMW X5 of the G05 generation experienced a restyling in February this year, and the premiere of the updated Chinese “X-fifth” with the G18 factory index was timed to coincide with the Chengdu Motor Show that opened today. All cosmetic updates for the «Chinese» are the same as for the global X5. M Sport trim comes as standard, and an even more luxurious M Sport Luxury livery with pearl chrome trim is available as an option. Standard equipment includes a panoramic glass roof, powerful M Sport brakes and adaptive air suspension on all wheels. Wheels — 21- or 22-inch.

The wheelbase of the Chinese BMW X5 has been increased by 130 mm to 3105 mm compared to the global one. The flagship crossover BMW X7 has exactly the same wheelbase — 3105 mm. The overall length of the Chinese BMW X5 is 5060 mm (+138 mm compared to the global one). The back of the rear sofa of the Chinese X5 is adjustable over a wider range than the global one. After restyling, the Chinese BMW X5 is still offered in two all-wheel drive petrol versions — xDrive30Li and xDrive40Li, but their characteristics have changed slightly and both petrol engines are now equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid add-on, which gives a small short-term increase in power during starting from a standstill and hard acceleration. The power of the 2.0-liter engine of the xDrive30Li version has been reduced from 272 hp. up to 258 hp, and the power of the 3.0-liter in-line “six” version of the xDrive40Li, on the contrary, was increased from 370 to 381 hp. Gearbox — only 8-speed hydromechanical «automatic» ZF. The BMW X5 xDrive30Li accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, the xDrive40Li version in 5.5 seconds, and the top speed is 222 km/h and 250 km/h respectively.
Prices for the updated Chinese BMW X5 start at 615,000 yuan (7.96 million rubles in translation at the current exchange rate).
