At present, the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg is still owned by the South Korean manufacturer. Nevertheless, in June of this year, the Kaliningrad Avtotor proposed to organize the assembly of new generation engines, as well as hybrid models at the enterprise.
In addition, Avilon also has plans for the plant, however, its plans for the enterprise are not yet known. According to experts, downtime and uncertainty are connected with the fact that Hyundai delays the moment of leaving the Russian market until the last moment and is waiting for the right moment.
Recall that the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg has been idle since March last year. Up to this point, the company produced more than 200,000 vehicles per year. The site was used to assemble Hyundai Solaris and Creta, and Kia Rio and Rio X-Line.
