The German brand's small truck has been given a facelift. The cabin also has new clothes, but very modest. The technique is completely the same.
The current generation Volkswagen Saveiro two-door pickup truck debuted back in 2009, it was made on the basis of the already deceased VW Gol passenger car, production was established in Brazil (in general, Saveiro has been in service since 1982). The previous restyling of the truck survived in 2016. Since then, its main competitors in the face of Fiat Strada and Chevrolet Montana have managed to move into a new generation, changing the format and gaining a full-fledged four-door cab. Moreover, the Chevy model even stepped into the higher class, becoming a rival to the Fiat Toro and Renault Duster Oroch. But Volkswagen is in no hurry with the release of a completely new Saveiro: the current pickup truck has been modernized once again. By the way, there is still demand for such a VW, although the German brand’s model is far from the Strada: from January to July of this year, 24,442 and 60,912 units were sold. respectively.

So, VW Saveiro has found a new hood, headlights, bumpers and grille. As before, the basic version of Robust has a black body kit and 15-inch steel wheels, such a truck comes with a «short» or two-row cab. Fog lights appear in the «average» configuration of Trendline (they are also new), but this modification is presented exclusively with two chairs. The top version was renamed from Cross to Extreme (captured on all company photos), on the contrary, it is only a five-seater, the features of such a truck are inscriptions and round badges on the body with the name of the configuration, black exterior mirror housings and alloy wheels of the original design (but also 15 » ).

Inside, there is an updated brand emblem on the steering wheel, the VW Saveiro Extreme is also distinguished by the presence of gray-green inserts on the door cards and seats, plus the “rich” pickup has original graphics on the dashboard. All versions come standard with all-round disc brakes, ESC, hill-start assist, a pair of airbags, air conditioning and rear parking sensors. The most expensive truck is also «leather» upholstery, an archaic multimedia system with a 6.5-inch display, a tire pressure monitoring system and a rear-view camera.

The reform engine was not affected: in Brazil, the Saveiro is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.6 engine, which traditionally for this country runs on gasoline (106 hp) , and on ethanol (116 hp). The pickup is equipped with mechanics, only front-wheel drive.
