A federal judge in Texas has temporarily blocked a state law restricting public speaking in favor of LGBT groups challenging similar laws across the country.
US District Judge David Hittner in Houston said the law, due to go into effect Friday, likely violates performers' constitutional right to free speech.
Judge Hittner blocked the law pending ruling on an earlier lawsuit. this month the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
The Texas chapter of the ACLU stated that “drug performers and LGBTQIA+ related businesses are owned by our state, and Texas politicians have no right to censor our freedom of speech.”
Paige Wyllie, a spokesman for the Texas Attorney General's Office, said the state «will use all legal remedies» to protect the law.
Texans were shocked to learn of the growing trend of indecent treatment. , so-called «precious» sexual performances are sold to families with children,» said Ms. Willey.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, a Republican and staunch supporter of the law, said when it was passed in April that it would prevent «lifetime injuries» participation in a drag show of a sexual nature.
Earlier this year, federal judges in Tennessee and Florida temporarily blocked similar laws in those states, also citing violations of free speech. These decisions are being appealed.
Montana, Arkansas, and North Dakota have also imposed restrictions on drag shows.
