BMW showed the harbinger of the new 3 series sedan

The serial novelty, which will be based on the concept of the Bavarian automaker shown today, will appear in 2025.

BMW has unveiled the Vision Neue Klasse concept, which is an evolution of the BMW i Vision Dee show car, which debuted in early January of this year. The novelty is a mid-size sedan, comparable in size to the current «three rubles». The manufacturer noted that Vision Neue Klasse demonstrates a new direction of the brand's corporate identity, and also emphasized that the new concept is close to the production version, which will reach the conveyor in two years.

Compared to the January show car, the new prototype of the future novelty of the Bavarian brand was deprived of the ePaper electrochromic film, which allowed changing the body color (and by segments); there is also no function for projecting animation onto the side windows. However, the developers left the BMW Vision Neue Klasse with family “nostrils” that make up a single whole with the head optics. p>Running lights are made in the form of double diagonal stripes on the sides, a volume splitter is located below, cameras are visible on the sides that replace conventional exterior mirrors. The stern received large lanterns with a complex three-dimensional pattern and a massive rear bumper made of dark plastic. The concept sedan also received a transparent roof and 21-inch wheels.

Designed in a minimalist style Salon BMW Vision Neue Klasse is designed for four riders — the second row is a pair of separate seats. In this case, the front seats are attached to the floor with a single holder. In the spirit of modern «eco-trends», the interior is finished with modern materials that are made from recycled materials.

The concept was equipped with a new generation iDrive system. In the new sedan, the role of the virtual instrument panel is performed by the BMW Panoramic Vision display, located at the bottom of the windshield. The information it displays can be selected using the central multimedia touch screen. The system also includes a voice control function and a 3D projector at the driver's eye level.

There is practically no official information about the technology of the future electric car. It is known that all planned new items that will be part of the Neue Klasse family will be equipped with the sixth generation 800-volt eDrive system. The Bavarians emphasized that compared to the current «green» models, the serial sedan, which will be based on a new concept, range per charge, as well as the speed of replenishing the battery will increase by 30%, and energy efficiency will increase by 25%.

The new serial five-door of the Bavarian brand will appear in 2025, the production of the first-born of the Neue Klasse line will be launched at the iFactory plant in Debrecen (Hungary). The second model of this family will be a crossover, and then four more electric vehicles will join it. The company may announce other «New Class» innovations in the coming months.
