Sainsbury's said it took ten years to develop the new range and took five years to produce.

The supermarket aims to achieve net zero profit across all its operations by 2035. As a result, beef production produces higher greenhouse gas emissions than other meats such as pork and poultry due to the high levels of methane produced by cows.

Ruth Cranston, Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at Sainsbury&#39 ;s, said: “No one else has been able to produce low carbon beef on such a scale and we hope this launch will be a leading example of what is possible in the industry.”
