Hybrid crossover Chery Tiggo 8 Pro updated in Russia six months after its debut

The SUV has changed both outside and inside. The hybrid will continue to be available in the only Ultimate trim level, but it has become richer.

The rechargeable hybrid crossover Chery Tiggo 8 Pro e+ entered the Russian market only in May of this year. Nevertheless, the local office of the brand has already announced an updated model: sales of this SUV will start before the end of November. Moreover, restyling brought our version another name — now it is Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid.

In terms of design, the hybrid has changed in the same way as the purely gasoline Tiggo 8 Pro Max, which reached the Russian Federation at the end August. On the radiator grille, instead of chrome “dots” there are now many “diamonds”, new taillights are in the form of a single die. In addition, the rear bumper was retouched.

The seven-seat cabin has a new curved display, that is, a combined virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen multimedia system (each display is 12.3 inches diagonal). They also redid the front panel and tunnel, replaced the joystick of the box, and instead of a separate touch-sensitive climate control unit there is now a row of touch-sensitive buttons.

As before, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid installation includes a 1.5 petrol turbo engine (147 hp) and a pair of electric motors, the total output is the same 235 hp as the pre-reform SUV. The dynamic characteristics are also the same: it is stated that the hybrid will reach the first “hundred” in 7.5 seconds, the maximum speed is 180 km/h. At the same time, according to the release of the Russian division of Chery, the crossover will be able to travel 80 km on the NEDC cycle only on electric power, while the figure for the pre-restyling crossover is up to 75 km (also on the NEDC cycle).

The hybrid “eight” will still be available in the only Ultimate configuration, but it has become even richer. New equipment includes 19-inch wheels (there were 18 inches), nine airbags (there were six), a head-up display, a full-time video recorder and an improved all-round viewing system; in addition, the front seats received a massage function. The model's arsenal also includes: a full “winter” package, adaptive cruise control, auto braking, blind monitoring and lane keeping systems.
