It is known for sure that the model will be offered as an all-wheel drive HEV hybrid. The premiere will probably be held in the near future.
The American division of Toyota has distributed a teaser of an unnamed model. Apparently, the car captured in this picture has nothing in common with the new product announced in the States a few days earlier. It is believed that last week the new generation Toyota Camry was revealed, while today they may have shown a fragment of the Toyota Crown Estate SUV intended for North America (and for the global market as a whole). At least from the rear, the car is very similar to the five-door Crown for Japan (but sales there have not yet begun), and the visible letter C speaks in favor of this version.
Fresh teaser from the American branch of Toyota
Toyota's global and Japanese offices describe the model as a fusion of a station wagon and a crossover, but Americans consider it a mid-size SUV. Be that as it may, it is assumed that the five-seat Crown Estate is based on the GA-K platform, on which the Crown sedan (the four-door is sold in many countries, including the USA) and the Crown Sport SUV (currently available only in the brand’s homeland) are also built.< /p>Toyota Crown Estate for Japan
At the moment, only the dimensions of the version for the home market are known: length — 4930 mm, width — 1880 mm , height – 1620 mm, wheelbase – 2850 mm. Probably, the American Crown Estate will have similar dimensions, which means that it will be comparable to the local Toyota Highlander crossover (length — 4950 mm, distance between the axles — the same 2850 mm).

In the States, the new Crown crossover will be offered with a hybrid HEV installation (that is, without the possibility of recharging from the mains) and all-wheel drive. But there are no details about the filling yet. It is possible that the SUV will inherit the settings from the American all-wheel drive Toyota Crown sedan: the four-door comes with a 2.5 naturally aspirated or a 2.4 turbo engine. In the first case, the sedan has a pair of electric motors and an electromechanical variator, the total output is 239 hp. The four-door with 2.4T has one electric motor on the rear axle and a six-speed automatic transmission, with a total power of 345 hp. In Japan, the Toyota Crown Estate will also be available as an HEV hybrid with an installation based on a 2.4 turbo-four, while there it will also be possible to buy a rechargeable PHEV version (specifications have not been disclosed).
Toyota Crown Estate for Japan
It is expected that a full presentation of the new five-door will be held in the United States in the near future. However, the debut market for the Crown Estate will most likely be its native Japan.
Meanwhile, the Crown family will also include a classic sedan on a rear-wheel drive platform: this model will probably also be global.
