MOSCOW, November 17. State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman, in a conversation with the Moscow Region Today publication, named the punishment that singer Valery Meladze could face for non-payment of taxes.
According to the politician, it is possible that part of the artist’s property will be confiscated.
«»Tax evasion is a crime, and in the Russian Federation there is punishment for it. I can assume that since Meladze is outside Russia, he is unlikely to agree to voluntarily compensate for the damage and pay fines. This means that something from his the property will have to be confiscated,” the deputy said.
Wasserman is confident that any offense must be stopped, otherwise it will lead to new ones.
“
"In general, as a rule, an unpunished criminal commits more and more crimes. Therefore, those stars who speak out against the Russian Federation are most often involved in other unsightly matters,” the parliamentarian believes.
Earlier, information appeared in the media that singer Valery Meladze did not pay taxes and owed the treasury 275 thousand rubles.
In January of this year, Valery Meladze uttered the slogan of Ukrainian nationalists at a private event in Dubai.
After this, his performances in Russia began to be cancelled, and the State Duma proposed depriving the singer of his titles and awards. In response, the performer stated that he dreams of reconciliation between two fraternal peoples.
Now Meladze rarely publishes anything on social networks, appears in public, and plans concerts exclusively abroad.
