While under investigation, he did not eat or drink for several days
Former lawyer of ex-ICR general Mikhail Maksimenko, who died on Tuesday morning in the colony of the ex-head of the department of interdepartmental interaction and his own security of the Investigative Committee of Russia — spoke about what happened. Andrey Grivtsov emphasized that despite existing health problems, Maksimenko, while still under investigation, was distinguished by enviable self-control.
Grivtsov confirmed that Maksimenko’s body was discovered today in a correctional colony in the Nizhny Novgorod region, where the former TFR dignitary was serving conclusion. He received 14 years in prison for participating in a corruption scheme to free the henchmen of crime boss Shakro Molodoy from liability. Gangsters were involved in a high-profile shootout on Rochdelskaya Street over control of the Elements cafe. Then two people were killed and eight were wounded.
“I called his wife, she confirmed his death,” Grivtsov added. “But she was in no condition to discuss details.” It seems like they called her from the colony.”
Even before his arrest in 2016, Maksimenko received a shell shock, so it cannot be said that his health was excellent.
“I saw his medical documents in “Lefortovo,” the lawyer emphasized. “He was previously seriously injured. But at the same time flint! I actually slept in an unheated cell for more than a year. And when he suspected that he might be poisoned, he did not drink or eat for several days.”
Grivtsov also added that Maksimenko was in good standing in the colony. “He kept in touch with his family and did not complain about the conditions.”
The cause of death of the former head of the ICR department has not been officially announced. He was found in the storage room of a psychiatric hospital located on the territory of the colony. By the way, Maksimenko smoked a lot, which clearly did not improve his health. The deceased prisoner was 50 years old.
