MOSCOW, November 22. Singer Charlotte, who was detained at St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport, faces administrative arrest for up to 15 days, the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to the department, the young man is charged with violations under three articles of the Administrative Code: “Public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Russian Armed Forces” (Article 20.3.3), “Petty hooliganism” (Article 20.1) and “Deliberate damage to a document, identification of a citizen» (Article 19.16).
For the destruction of a passport, the code provides for a fine of 100 to 300 rubles; for discrediting the army, a fine of 30 to 50 thousand rubles is punishable. The article on petty hooliganism involves both a monetary penalty and administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
A native of Samara, Eduard Charlotte is a Russian singer and blogger, best known for the song “Cheek by Cheek.” (14 million views of the video on YouTube) and shocking behavior.
In June, Charlotte published a video in which he burns his passport. He stated that he no longer considered himself a citizen of Russia and would go to Kyiv. But in mid-November, the singer asked his subscribers for money for a return ticket to his homeland.
This morning he flew to Pulkovo from Armenia. There he was met by a police squad. Later, the head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, published a video in which the artist apologized for burning his passport and promised not to do this again.
