ST. PETERSBURG, November 20. Writer and human rights activist Nina Katerli died in St. Petersburg at the age of 90, her daughter Elena Efros reported.
““Mom died this morning,” she wrote on one of her social media accounts.
Nina Katerli was born on June 30, 1934 in Leningrad. She is known as a human rights activist, as well as the author of 15 books of prose and journalism.
Her granddaughter, theater director Evgenia Berkovich, is under arrest in the case of justifying terrorism, which was initiated due to the posting on YouTube of a reading of the play “Finist Yasnyi Sokol”, which, according to the expert assessment, contained signs of justification terrorism, the ideology of the terrorist group «Islamic State»* banned in the Russian Federation and jihadism.
