MOSCOW, 23 Nov. South Korean singer and member of the K-pop group BTS Jungkook said goodbye to fans before his mandatory military service, for which he is leaving in December, writes People.
It is noted that the 26-year-old performer will serve with other lead singers -band RM, Jimin and V.
«In December, I will begin a new journey. I am leaving you for a while to serve in the army. When I share this news, on the one hand I feel heavy, and on the other hand, I am reminded of precious memories with ARMY [as the group's army of fans is called — ed.], so my heart warms,” the 26-year-old singer wrote.
Jungkook hopes that after a year and a half of service, fans will not forget him and will wait for the artist to return to the stage.
«We ask that you continue to love and support RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook until they complete their military service and return safely,» the group's music label said on Instagram*.
Last December, Chin was the first member of BTS to enlist in the military. He is due back next June.
In South Korea, the mandatory period of military service is two years. However, the country's laws allow world-class celebrities to perform alternative service.
It was previously reported that all BTS members will go to military exercises after their scheduled concerts. An official representative of the artists stated that the group will be able to resume performances in 2025.
