The Italian company Pagani Automobili presented another limited project — a roofless Imola Roadster supercar with an 850-horsepower V12, only 8 copies will be produced .
The Pagani Imola coupe debuted back in February 2020 and, at first glance, it is a little strange that the roadster of the same name appeared with such a large time lag, but the fact is that for the open version, Pagani significantly redesigned the body, which required a long aerodynamic study. In addition, Pagani, in principle, makes very few cars, the queue for them is huge, the Italian company has no intention of rushing and chasing production numbers.
The original Imola coupe is a kind of more driver's version of the Huayra, focused primarily on the racing track, but at the same time certified for use on public roads. The main difference between Imola and Huayra was the redesigned body with a developed and more efficient aerodynamic tail; because of this tail, the sculptural image of the Huayra suffered a little, but the dynamic qualities were excellent.
In the Imola Roadster, Pagani has managed to miraculously combine the exquisite elegance of the Huayra with efficient aerodynamics: compared to the Imola coupe, the body has become smoother, the design of the sidewalls has been completely redesigned, the shape of the front and rear has been adjusted, the hood and fairings behind the cockpit have been redesigned, a larger work has been done with internal aerodynamics to ensure sufficient cooling for the more powerful engine and brakes. Pagani claims that at a speed of 280 km/h, the aerodynamic tail of the Imola Roadster provides 600 kg of download. Lateral overloads of up to 2.2g are also largely provided by aerodynamics.
The Pagani Imola Roadster weighs 1,260 kg — just 14 kg more than the coupe. The body is based on a monocoque made of Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 composites; the ultra-light Acquarello Light paint coating made it possible to reduce the weight of the car by 5 kg without loss of protective properties and color depth. The suspension is spring, on double aluminum wishbones “all around” with adaptive shock absorbers with electronic control. Carbon-ceramic brakes are supplied by Brembo, the front disc size is 398×36 mm (6-piston calipers), the rear disc size is 380×34 mm (4-piston calipers). The openwork forged wheels are shod with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires specially developed for this model, measuring 265/30 R 20 at the front and 355/25 R 21 at the rear.
The power of the 6.0-liter Mercedes-AMG V12 twin-turbo engine for the roadster has been increased from 827 to 850 hp. While maximum torque remains unchanged at 1,100 Nm, all power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed Xtrac single-clutch automatic transmission and electromechanical differential. The supercar's top speed is limited to 350 km/h.
All eight copies of the Pagani Imola Roadster planned for production have probably already been sold, the price has not been announced, but it is definitely higher than the coupe, each copy of which cost the customer 5 million euros.
