MOSCOW, December 1 Experiments on marking certain types of radio-electronic and fiber-optic products begin in Russia: a special code will be applied, in particular, to sockets, photosensitive conductors, lamps, lighting equipment, optical fibers and fiber-optic cables.
The experiment on certain types of radio-electronic products will last until February 28, 2025. CRPT (labeling operator “Honest Sign”) reported that even before the announcement of the labeling experiment, almost 40 companies in the industry, including the largest, expressed their readiness to participate in it, and seven enterprises studied the production and technical capabilities of labeling.
“This (labeling – ed.) will make it possible to prevent unsatisfactory products from entering the Russian market that pose a danger to the life and health of people, as well as to property,” explained Fyodor Nemtsov, general director of Ecolight LLC. In addition, the head of the APSS (Association of Manufacturers of LEDs and Systems Based on them) Olga Grekova noted the importance of introducing such an experiment, adding that a transparent digital marking system should create conditions for fair competition.
“Domestic manufacturers lose tenders to foreign companies that only pretend that they produce in Russia. For example, for government procurement, samples of lamps entirely assembled from domestic components can be presented, and the price for them is set low, which allows them to win the tender. And then into serial production products are supplied with imported components,” she shared.
According to the general director of LEDEL LLC (production of lamps) Denis Ryabov, labeling industrial products will not only protect the market from counterfeit products, but will also solve two problems: “Firstly, the Russian government receives real information about the situation on the market, on the basis of which “measures can be quickly developed to support domestic producers. Secondly, labeling makes it possible to identify tax evasion schemes, which ultimately increases budget capacity.”
In turn, the experiment on marking optical fiber and fiber-optic cable will end on December 1, 2024 and will allow us to develop the practice of marking these industrial products to reduce counterfeit products in the industry. According to CRPT, to date 60% of manufacturers in this market have expressed their readiness to take part in the pilot.
The “Honest Sign” system has been introduced in Russia since 2019 to combat the illegal circulation of goods. Currently it covers dairy products, bottled water, soft drinks, tobacco, beer, shoes, light industrial products, fur coats, tires, perfumes, cameras, medical products, wheelchairs, antiseptics, dietary supplements and medicines.
