The brand also confirmed that the budget SUV received new equipment. It is assumed that the model will be available with the same engines.
The Indian division of Kia officially announced the updated Sonet cross last week. Now fresh teasers have been published: they, in particular, show the stern and interior. Let us remember that India is the main market for SUVs; the main production site is also located there. At the same time, the Kia Sonet is not a local “exclusive”: the model is also presented in Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Well, we note that Kia is intriguing in vain, because back in October the modernized five-door was revealed in a photo of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, although the crossover is not yet sold in the Middle Kingdom.
The front part was redesigned in the style of the latest Kia K3 sedan and hatchback (they will displace the “global” Kia Rio): the crossover also gained elongated headlights with sections of running lights “flowing” onto the new bumper. The taillights are now vertical, while they are still connected to each other by a luminous jumper (but this die is new). The rear bumper has also changed, and the radiator grille has a different pattern.

Most likely, the length of the Indian SUV still does not exceed four meters (the figure for the pre-reform model is 3995 mm), because such cars India is entitled to tax benefits. The wheelbase probably hasn't changed either (2500 mm).
The only significant new thing in the cabin is a full-fledged virtual instrument cluster. Kia also confirmed the appearance of new safety systems: in particular, the Sonet received a frontal collision prevention system; local specialized media are also writing about the marking monitoring and automatic headlight switching systems.

According to preliminary data, in India the crossover will be available with the same engines. The range of the pre-reform model includes petrol naturally aspirated 1.2 (83 hp) and turbocharged 1.0 T-GDI (120 hp), diesel 1.5 CRDi (115 hp). Boxes (depending on the version) — traditional five-speed manual, 6iMT without a mechanical connection between the pedal and the clutch, a classic six-speed automatic and a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches. Front-wheel drive only.

The premiere of the Indian updated Kia Sonet is scheduled for December 14. The previous SUV has already been removed from the consumer website; recently it cost from 779,000 rupees — this is approximately 867,000 rubles at the current exchange rate.
