Chinese automakers are summing up the results of the outgoing year in the Russian Federation 2023 and share plans for 2024. Thus, following the premium brand Hongqi (owned by the FAW concern), a press release about successes and future prospects was issued by the local office of Tank (this brand is owned by Great Wall).
Let us remind you that the Tank brand appeared in China in 2021, and exclusively frame SUVs are produced under it. The fact that all-terrain vehicles will reach our country was officially announced in the fall of 2022. The first-born on the Russian market was the Tank 300 (by the way, in its homeland this model was initially presented under another Great Wall sub-brand — Wey), sales started in February of this year. And in the spring, the “three hundredth” was joined by the larger and more prestigious Tank 500.

As the Russian division of Tank reported, our market has become one of the largest (export, of course) for the young brand: from the start of sales until November 2023, 5,812 Tank 300 SUVs and 5,612 Tank 500 units were sold. In September, both models entered the TOP -25 bestsellers in the Russian Federation, and in November the Tank brand itself was in the TOP 10 most popular brands for the first time. Currently, the dealer network includes 41 centers throughout the country.

Next year, they plan to expand the Russian Tank range: it is stated that both “completely new cars” and special versions will be presented, and the latter will be made “according to customer expectations.” The names of the new models have not yet been disclosed. However, it’s not difficult to guess: in China, in addition to the Tank 300 and Tank 500, the line also includes the Tank 400 and Tank 700. In addition, the luxurious Tank 800 all-terrain vehicle is on the way, but it has not yet been shown in production form.

The length of the Tank 400 is 4985 mm (including the external spare wheel), width — 1960, height — 1900 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of our Tank 500 (in the Russian Federation the model does not have a spare wheel on the trunk door): 4886/1934/1905 mm. The wheelbase and ground clearance of the cars are the same — 2850 and 224 mm, respectively. It is curious that the “four hundredth” is now offered to the Chinese only in the form of a rechargeable hybrid with a Hi4-T installation. However, previously the Celestial Empire also certified a purely petrol version with a 2.0 turbo-four. Most likely, a “traditional” SUV will be brought to the Russian Federation, although the appearance of a hybrid should not be ruled out either: just the day before, sales of the gas-electric Tank 500 Urban started (it complemented the model line).

Tank 700 in China is currently presented only in a limited special version with a massive body kit and additional lights on the roof. The standard SUV will debut in 2024, the dimensions of the basic all-terrain vehicle are: 5090/2061/1952 mm, the distance between the axles is 3000 mm. One of the main features of the “seven hundredth” will be the presence of a multi-link rear suspension (instead of a spring), air springs and adaptive shock absorbers. On the domestic market, the Tank 700 is also announced only as a hybrid, but this model will also have a “traditional” version — with a petrol biturbo V6 3.0.
