BELGOROD, January 2Cinemas and large shopping centers in Belgorod have temporarily suspended their operations due to the difficult operational situation, Belgorod Mayor Valentina Demidov said.
«We agreed with the management of large shopping centers that they will suspend operations on January 3 and 4. The RIO shopping center, Mega Grinn shopping center and City Mall Belgorodsky MTRK will not work on these two days.» Latest events are such that we consider this measure necessary. It is better for everyone now to stay at home if possible,» Demidov wrote in his Telegram channel.

He added that he hopes for the understanding of citizens and businessmen, since “the safety and preservation of people’s lives is the main thing now.” According to the mayor, the decision on further work will be made based on the operational situation.
«With the management of the cinemas «Rusich», «Pobeda» and «Raduga» we also made a joint decision to temporarily suspend work. Tickets that were pre-sold can be used later, when it allows operational situation,» Demidov said.
On January 2, Belgorod was again subjected to Ukrainian shelling. In particular, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired 17 Alder missiles of their own design into the city and the Belgorod region during the day, all of them were shot down by Russian air defense systems. As Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov clarified, as a result of the Ukrainian strike on Belgorod, a man was killed and 11 more people were injured.
