Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, in an interview with Krasnaya Zvezda, named several main factors that form threats to the military security of ocean and sea directions.
< p>One of the threats he named is the constant patrolling of potential enemy ships armed with Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles. According to the admiral, the range of use of these missiles allows them to strike targets in most of Russia.
Among other factors, he named the presence of powerful naval groups of foreign countries in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea . In addition, Evmenov drew attention to the fact that plans are being considered to infringe on Russia’s interests in the Arctic.
In this regard, the admiral emphasized that Russia must have a modern military fleet capable of fending off these threats and ensuring deterrence from aggression along with other types and branches of the military.
