BEIJING, Jan 9 China successfully launched the Einstein probe into orbit to observe little-studied space phenomena , the China Space Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) said in a statement.
“»At 15.03 (10.03 Moscow time — ed.) on January 9, the Long March-2C launch vehicle launched from the Xichang Cosmodrome, after which the Einstein probe was successfully launched into the specified orbit,» the message says.
The satellite was sent to observe mysterious transient phenomena in the universe, comparable to the flickering of fireworks, with the aim of revealing little-known aspects of the cosmos, Xinhua reported.
As explained by CASC, the Einstein probe is China's first large-field X-ray astronomical satellite. The probe will be used to record phenomena predicted by theoretical physicist Albert Einstein, such as black holes and gravitational waves.
