MOSCOW, January 10 Soviet and Russian film scriptwriter, writer and director Igor Bolgarin died at the age of 95, according to the website of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia.

“On January 9, 2024, at the age of 95, the Soviet and Russian writer, screenwriter, director and teacher, Honored Artist of Russia, member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, Bolgarin Igor Yakovlevich, passed away,” says the message.
The Bulgarian's greatest fame came from his work on the films: «His Excellency's Adjutant» (co-authored with Georgiy Seversky), «On the Count's Ruins», «Dersu Uzala», «Hard Kilometers», «The Thought of Kovpak: The Alarm», «The Thought of Kovpak: Buran», «Nine Lives of Nestor Makhno».
It is added that the time and place of farewell will be known later.
The Union of Cinematographers of Russia and the Guild of Film Writers of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia expressed condolences to the family and friends of Igor Bolgarin.
The Bulgarian began his writing career in the 1950s. From 1952 to 1953, he was a full-time literary employee of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, and in 1954 he graduated from the screenwriting department of VGIK (workshop of Evgeniy Gabrilovich and Ilya Weisfeld) and began working at the Tsentrnauchfilm film studio. The Bulgarian wrote scripts for popular science films and documentaries. Since 1974 he taught at the department of film and photography at the Moscow Institute of Culture. In 1979, Igor Bolgarin was awarded the academic title of associate professor.
Igor Bolgarin is a laureate of the Lomonosov Prize («Secret of the NSE»), laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after the Vasilyev brothers («Adjutant of His Excellency»), Honored Worker of the Ukrainian SSR. For the script «The Thought of Kovpak» he was awarded the A. Dovzhenko gold medal. Awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation — for services in the field of art. For services to the development of national culture and art, and many years of work, he was awarded the Order of Friendship.
