The court arrested a suspect in setting the door of a Sputnik radio host on fire

MOSCOW, January 10. The Oktyabrsky District Court arrested Rustam Gorshkov, suspected of setting fire to the door of Sputnik journalist Trofim Tatarenkov in St. Petersburg, the joint press service of the city courts reported.
“»The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg granted the investigation's request to select a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Rustam Gorshkov. The duration of the measure is 03/07/2024,» the publication says.
The petition states that he fulfilled the role organizer of the crime. As the joint press service clarified, a trial is currently underway against two more of Gorshkov’s accomplices.

Sputnik radio host and one of the authors of the Izolenta program Trofim Tatarenkov told the agency on January 8 that last Sunday evening the door to his apartment in St. Petersburg was set on fire. He noted that he suspects a “Ukrainian trace.”

A criminal case was opened under the article on intentional destruction or damage to someone else's property. Later, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk, announced the detention of the suspects. According to the police, they admitted that they received a task from a certain person for a thousand dollars.

It was reported that the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, also ordered the initiation of a criminal case within the department.
This is not the first case threats and putting pressure on journalists. So, in September, a pig’s head was planted under the door of columnist Timofey Sergeytsev. Later, the same incident occurred with military expert Konstantin Sivkov. In addition, the latter received threats for supporting the Northern Military District. In April 2023, Sivkov received from an unknown sender a bust of Marshal Zhukov, gilded in exactly the same way as the figurine with explosives used to kill military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky.
