A seven-month-old child died on the Moscow-Chita train on the evening of January 9. At the Kungur station (about 100 kilometers from Perm), doctors tried to resuscitate the baby, but to no avail. His mother and two children were taken to the hospital. At the station in Yekaterinburg, the carriage in which the baby was traveling was sanitized, and specialists took express tests from train passengers for the presence of viral diseases. Information appeared on social networks that the baby had influenza A, accompanied by high body temperature and weakness, while similar symptoms were observed in several people on the train. The Perm Investigative Committee began an investigation to establish the causes of the child’s death.
