«I would like to wish Oleg Ivanovich (Romantsev) that he always looks cheerful, as he did today at the match. May God grant him good health! When you communicate with him, you learn a lot of new things. He has a rich store of knowledge — not only football, but also human. It is always pleasant to listen to him and learn something for yourself. My most vivid memory with Oleg Ivanovich is that I met him and played for four and a half years “Spartak”, having won many trophies,” said Alenichev.
Romantsev headed Spartak from 1989 to 2003 with a break for the 1996 season. Under his leadership, the “red-whites” became champions of the USSR in 1989, and also won the Russian championship eight times (1992-1994, 1997-2001). Together with Romantsev, Spartak won the National Cup four times (1992, 1994, 1998, 2003). As a player, he was the captain of Spartak.
