According to her, new bills may not be accepted in some stores. This is due to the human factor: cashiers are simply not familiar with the updated design and are afraid of counterfeits. But this is rather an exception: there are no grounds in the law for refusing to accept legal tender.
Valishvili warned that during the period of issuing new banknotes, scammers become more active. They convince potential victims that banknotes need to be checked for authenticity and offer to follow a link to a corresponding application, which in practice turns out to be spyware. Also, under the guise of social workers, scammers can offer elderly people to exchange money by slipping counterfeits.
