They will be tasty and nutritious
The method for producing semi-finished and finished products from insect larvae was developed by specialists from the Vavilov Saratov University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering. Recently, their invention was protected by a patent of the Russian Federation.

The delicacies are planned to be made from the larvae of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens). They are still used to feed fish, livestock, and poultry; even dogs eat them. Therefore, it is not surprising that over time, scientists decided to develop dishes for the human diet.
The production cycle begins with the cultivation of larvae on a high-protein plant substrate. In their development, larvae go through five stages: egg, larva, prepupa, pupa and adult. For food purposes, it is preferable to use animals in the second and third stages: it is during this period of life that active feeding and saturation of ultra-small livestock with nutritional elements occurs.
The grown larvae are washed in cold water, dried, fried with sugar (in this case, the larvae get a pleasant “meaty” aroma). After frying, they are crushed, food additives are added (mushrooms, eggs, nuts, millet, rice, pepper, etc.) and minced meat is made, the mass fraction of larvae in which ranges from 40 to 50%. Then the semi-finished product can be frozen or immediately fried.
Scientists note that in all respects, larvae are superior to category 1 beef. Therefore, you should not be surprised if products and semi-finished products from larvae appear on our shelves soon.
By the way, in October last year the Russian Government recognized the breeding of black soldier flies as a special type of agricultural activity. The list of agricultural products included fine and coarse flour from flies, granules and puree from its larvae, as well as the larvae themselves — live, chilled and frozen.
