Men of Eteri Tutberidze: what fame they brought her

    br>

One of the most prominent figure skaters in Russia, Andrei Mozalev, moved to the group of Eteri Tutberidze, known for his productive work in women's singles skating. Sport remembers the “main men” in Tutberidze’s career and the results of their cooperation.

    Adyan Pitkeev
The first star of the Tutberidze group in men's single skating. The then cycle of life of the leading figure skaters of the group – it burned clearly, but not for long – reflected on him to the fullest.

Adyan’s entire path in sports from the first major junior competitions before the fateful Russian championship with an injured back took just over five years and ended in complete disappointment. In 2016, Pitkeev’s cooperation with Tutberidze ended. He moved on to Elena Buyanova, but after some time he ended his career without ever returning to competitive ice.

    br>Sergey Voronov
One of the main old-timers of our men's single skating came to Eteri Georgievna in 2013 to restart his career. Few people believed that the then 25-year-old Voronov was capable of achieving significant progress under the guidance of a then not-so-famous specialist. However, Tutberidze still managed to breathe new life into it.

It was with her that Sergei was able to get on the European Championship podium for the first time in his career (silver in 2014 and bronze in 2015), and in general during his stay at Khrustalny he was very competitive. There was even talk that Voronov should replace Evgeni Plushenko in the individual tournament of the Olympics in Sochi. However, the withdrawal of the latter was not formalized in advance (probably due to the position of the athlete’s team), so Sergei stayed at home.

After 2015, Voronov’s results began to decline again. Soon he again decided to change his coach and moved to Inna Goncharenko. For a long time, it was Sergei who was an example of what is traditionally already doubted – Tutberidze still knows how to successfully work with adult skaters.

    Maurice Kvitelashvili
Although in fact there are at least two such examples. Maurice spent his entire adult career under the leadership of Tutberidze and hardly regretted it, because ultimately it led him not only to participation in two Olympics (24th and 10th places), but also to historical medals for Georgia – championship bronze Europe and gold at the Grand Prix stage. It is also noteworthy that Kvitelashvili began to achieve full-fledged success precisely in adulthood, after 25 years, according to his own admissions

And also Maurice, after the 2022 Olympics, formulated why it is more difficult for guys in Tutberidze’s group:

“There are many factors here. Some people lack patience. Some people lack strength. Sometimes it’s not easy for Eteri Georgievna. But over time you get used to this regime.”

At the same time, you yourself Maurice, apparently, had enough strength and patience. And so much so that even when last season he had to go away to train in Italy out of harm’s way, he still couldn’t stand it and returned.

    Daniil Samsonov
Potentially the most successful singles player, Tutberidze, went through fire, water and the operating table. In the first international junior season, Samsonov loudly announced himself, but was never able to finish it – the development of Osgood-Schlatter disease prevented him.

br>Recovery took several years and operations, as a result of which the short boy grew into an 18-year-old boy. Now everything has to be proven again. But he seems to be on the right track. In any case, fifth place at the last Russian championship inspires optimism.

    Nika Egadze
Should have replaced Kvitelashvili in the Georgian men's team, but at this stage it turns out with a variable success. For a long time, Nika was tormented by injuries, which sometimes forced him to undergo surgery, so he was unable to gain stability under the leadership of Tutberidze for objective reasons.

This season, the 21-year-old skater showed the best results in his career at the Grand Prix (two fourth places) and again became seventh at the European Championships. However, unfortunately, this cannot be called powerful progress.

    Arseniy Fedotov
If health permits, Fedotov will become not only the leader of the Tutberidze group, but also one of the best singles skaters of the country. The potential of 14-year-old Arseny is almost limitless.

He is a good jumper (of the quadruples he is proficient in the sheepskin coat and salchow), has charisma and knows how to enjoy competitions. In a month, the current champion of Russia among juniors will have to confirm his title. There are great chances that he will succeed.
