A poll by think tank More in Common, released on Sunday evening, found that 26 per cent of respondents agreed with the statement that the Prime Minister was an «asset» for his party, while 43 per cent disagreed.
When asked the same question in October, 37 per cent of people said Mr Sunak was an asset to the Conservatives , and 33 per cent Cent said no.
The figures come after months of uprisings within the Tories, most notably over the government's deportation policy from Rwanda, as well as the reduction of net zero targets and a record tax burden.
