MADRID, Nov 26 Three women claim they were sexually assaulted by Spanish director Carlos Vermouth between May 2014 and February 2022, El newspaper reported on Friday Pais.
According to the publication, the artist’s victims were a student, an employee of one of his productions, and a cultural worker. They allege that the director allegedly took advantage of his recognition and position in the film industry to enter into a violent sexual relationship to which they did not consent.
It is noted that all three women are physically similar to each other: two of them are younger than him, they were 21 and 26 years old at the time of the alleged attack. They are all small in stature and say they were unable to push the director away or defend themselves for fear that something worse might happen to them. None of the women reported the incident to the police because, they said, two of them were afraid of losing their jobs and another of not getting one. According to the Spanish Ministry of Equality, only eight percent of victims of sexual violence decide to report it.
Vermouth, interviewed three times by El Pais, assured that he performed all actions with the consent of the women. “It’s another matter that the person at home felt bad after this and, perhaps, was afraid to talk about it at that moment. I can’t know about that,” he assured.
Carlos Vermouth, born in Madrid in 1980, is a film director, screenwriter, animator and producer. He began to make his mark in Spanish cinema with his debut film “Diamond Flash” (2011). His second feature film, “Magical Girl” (2014), brought him widespread recognition.
