MOSCOW, January 30 Construction of a magnetic levitation monorail route will begin in St. Petersburg after a source of funding has been identified, it was reported at the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering Corporation (MIT, part of Roscosmos).
“To date, work on the construction of the highway in the Leningrad region has not begun, since the source of financing has not been determined,” the message says.
The press service recalled that the MIT corporation, within the framework of a cooperation agreement with the executive authorities of the Leningrad region, developed in 2022 a technical design for a monorail using a magnetic unloading system for the route from the Devyatkino metro station to the shopping center » Mega-Parnas» in the Leningrad region.
Sea trials of a monorail transport system using a train moving using maglev technology were carried out back in 2021. Such a system, according to the developers, has a number of advantages over modern urban transport. It can be quickly built and put into operation. This transport has a reduced noise level and is environmentally friendly, requires minimal maintenance of rolling stock and overpasses, has low energy consumption, and can also operate in unmanned mode.
