The premiere of the updated model of the Czech brand, part of the Volkswagen group, will take place next month.
The Skoda brand has been producing Octavia since 1996; over the past time, the model has managed to change generations three times. The current fourth generation debuted in 2019. Octavia is available in two body types – liftback and station wagon. Let us remind you that global sales of the model at the end of 2022 decreased by 30% to 141.1 thousand copies (the decrease was also influenced by the departure from the Russian Federation). And at the end of last year, five-door cars showed a noticeable increase: the circulation amounted to 191.9 thousand units (36% more in 2022). Octavia retained its title as the brand's bestseller.
Now the popular model is preparing for a planned restyling; the first teaser of the future new product appeared at the beginning of this month. Now the Czech brand has published another short video with the refreshed Skoda Octavia liftback. Judging by the teaser, the update will bring different head optics to the model — the shape will remain the same, but the design will be different. It is curious that last time the car showed new running lights in the form of LED “fangs”, beveled towards the radiator grille, but in the new darkened video they are not visible. However, small stripes can be seen in the highlighted screenshot.

The car in the new video has a recognizable branded radiator grille with a chrome trim and a pattern of black vertical lines. In profile, regular door handles and traditional exterior mirrors with turn signal repeaters are visible. The rear lights have probably been left in the same shape; between them there is a large inscription with the brand name. A shark fin antenna can be seen on the roof of the liftback. It is expected that the refreshed Octavia will have both bumpers retouched.
As part of the update, the Skoda Octavia will likely receive a new infotainment system with larger touchscreens (current liftbacks and station wagons have 8- to 10-inch touchscreens in the cabin). In addition, five-door cars can revise the virtual instrument panel and upgrade the climate control unit. Most likely, the Octavia will be offered new materials and color options for interior trim.
According to preliminary data, in the European market the restyled Skoda Octavia will continue to be offered with a liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine, a 1.5- and 2.0-liter TSI turbo-four, as well as a two-liter TDI turbodiesel. It is possible that all versions of the model will get a mild hybrid makeweight. It is likely that the Octavia iV rechargeable hybrid will follow other petrol-electric models from the VW group and will, as a result, receive an installation based on a 1.5-liter TSI turbo engine, while the current version is based on a 1.4 TSI.
The debut of the refreshed Octavia will take place next month. Probably, restyled liftbacks and station wagons will be more expensive compared to the pre-reform versions. In the domestic market, buying a liftback will now cost 619,900 Czech crowns (equivalent to approximately 2.43 million rubles at the current exchange rate), and for a station wagon they are asking for at least 659,900 crowns (about 2.58 million rubles).
Earlier, Kolesa.ru designer Nikita Chuiko offered his own version of the potential appearance of the updated Octavia. Very soon we will find out whether the artist’s ideas coincided with reality.
