MOSCOW, February 8 Attracting schoolchildren to science, mathematics and physics education is a key task, but without the allocation of appropriate administrative and financial resources, this task cannot be solved, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting of the Council for Science and Education.
During the meeting, the director of the Presidential Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239, Maxim Pratusevich, told Putin that in the education system there is a tendency to reduce the choice of natural, mathematical and physical education by schoolchildren and graduates. To solve this problem, Pratusevich proposed creating a program that would include expanding practices and internships for schoolchildren, attracting physics and mathematics teachers to schools, popularizing people of science and other elements.
«I subscribe to every word that was said here. We all understand that this is very important, this is where it all begins. The question is how we can do this, how to establish this process. In Soviet times, this was easier to solve — the party said: “We must!” — the Komsomol replied: “Yes!” And off we go. In our conditions, oddly enough, this is becoming more and more difficult to organize, but without the allocation of appropriate administrative and financial resources, we will never solve this problem, and it is one of the key ones,” Putin said.
