Krasnoyarsk pensioner with dementia killed his wife and forgot about it
In Krasnoyarsk, an 81-year-old man suffering from dementia stabbed his wife to death and forgot about it, reports the regional prosecutor's office.
A man diagnosed with vascular dementia , caused by hypertension, killed his 77-year-old wife in November out of jealousy. The woman wanted to visit her sister, but her elderly husband decided that his wife cheated on him, grabbed a knife and stabbed her.
Neighbors heard the woman’s screams and called the police. When the police arrived, the woman was already dead. The man stated that he did not know where she was, although the body was still lying in the apartment. The pensioner refused to believe what was happening.
Now the man is in a pre-trial detention center and is waiting for his wife to visit him. The criminal case has been sent to court. The man has been diagnosed with a mental illness, so they plan to send him to a psychiatric hospital.
