MOSCOW, February 7Work on organizing Intervision has begun, the Russian Foreign Ministry is helping the organizers establish international contacts, said Alexander Alimov, director of the department for multilateral humanitarian cooperation and cultural relations.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assists the organizers of the competition in establishing the development of contacts with countries that are invited to participate in this event. We will continue this work,” he said.
According to Alimov, the interest in the event is really significant. Now the ministry is working on the organizational, technical and creative aspects of connecting partner countries. He emphasized that they are actively working on this issue and in Moscow they are confident that “it will be a resounding success.”
The director of the department also said that Beijing has already appointed a representative who will be responsible for China's participation in Intervision. He added that Moscow is waiting for similar steps from the other states participating in the competition. According to Alimov, “at this stage” only friendly countries have shown interest in the event.
Previously, the President’s Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy, said that preparations are being made to hold the Intervision competition in Russia at the end of 2024.
In November last year, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, at a meeting with the heads of official foreign delegations within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, invited her colleagues to create a common music competition “Eurasiavision+” (“Intervision”). General Director of Channel One Konstantin Ernst proposed holding this event next year and making it an annual event.
