KAZAN, February 20, Adela Ziatdinova. Olympic champion in skiing racing Alexander Legkov said that he sincerely supports figure skater Kamila Valieva, who was disqualified due to a violation of anti-doping rules.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on January 29 disqualified Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules and canceled her results in tournaments from December 25, 2021.
““I’m not fully immersed in this topic, why should I talk about it. It’s better to ask for advice from those close to her. I sincerely support her,” Legkov said.
CAS in 2018 upheld the appeals of 28 Russian athletes against the decision of the IOC, which had previously banned them for life from participating in the Olympics and annulled their results at the Games in Sochi. These athletes included Legkov, who won gold in the 50 km race and silver in the relay in Sochi.
