Kylian Mbappe's transfer saga is closer than ever to a denouement. If force majeure does not occur, the Frenchman will get rid of Parisian captivity and next summer will replace Paris Saint-Germain with Real Madrid.
Over the weekend, Spanish media began to circulate news of the epic transition with all their might. L'Equipe newspaper first reported that the striker told the management about his decision to leave the team at the end of the season. Then As journalists found out that the president of the French grandee Nasser Al-Khelaifi, at a private business meeting in Doha, spoke about a fully formalized deal for Mbappe. Then Marca shared the main details of the 25-year-old forward’s contract with Los Blancos (which, according to them, was signed two weeks ago):
- The agreement is for five years;
- The star player's account will receive 15-20 million euros per year;
- Mbappe will also receive a signing bonus of 50 million euros.
Kylian's star lit up in the 2016/17 season at Monaco, when the club not only became the champion of France for the first time in 17 years, but also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. PSG quickly staked out the young goalscorer and in the summer of 2017 stormed through the transfer market, signing both Mbappe and the Brazilian Neymar.
Six and a half years have passed. During this time, the world champion won everything in France: five Ligue 1 trophies, two French League Cups, three French Cups and three national Super Cups. However, he never took the big-eared one. The club constantly failed in the international arena, reaching the Champions League final only once (in the pandemic summer of 2020, the Parisians lost to Bayern – 0:1).
Even the Argentinean Lionel Messi, who gave Paris two seasons of his career, did not help.
Failures in the Champions League and reluctance to play in the shadow of Messi/Neymar forced Mbappe to constantly think about leaving. And all this time it was Real that was actively working to “recruit” the Frenchman.
Interestingly, the football player could have ended up at the “royal club” while still just a young man, when Zinedine Zidane, who worked at the Madrid academy, had his eye on him. Then ZiZu dreamed of Mbappe, who was already spectacular at PSG… Steadily once (or even twice) a year, transfer rumors wooed Kylian to Real. Last summer, the Saudi sheikhs wanted to save the forward from Paris: Al-Hilal gave a crazy €300 million to the club and €700 million (more than 63 billion rubles!) to the star himself in just one season. Next, welcome to Madrid. But Mbappe was not impressed by the offer.
The closest thing was to leaving for Real in the summer of 2022, when the Frenchman rejected almost all offers to extend the contract… But he could not refuse the latter, drowning in money and again aiming to win the Champions League with the Parisians.

And yet the expensive asset is eluding Paris. This time, the world champion categorically refused to renew his agreement with PSG and will leave for Madrid as a free agent. According to The Times, the Parisians will save about 200 million, which went towards Mbappe's salary, and will try to create a young team capable of conquering Europe.
