President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (WFTU) Vladimir Salnikov said that some conditions for the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions contradict Russian legislation, and if no changes occur, the chances of swimmers participating in the Olympics will be extremely low.
The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) previously reported that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) may introduce additional selection parameters for Russians wishing to take part in the Games in Paris in a neutral status. It was emphasized that agreement with the IOC requirements could lead to a violation of the laws of the Russian Federation. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Sports and R&D to develop proposals for the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympics. The games will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11.

We are talking about the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee for international sports federations regarding the admission of athletes to qualifying competitions. Unfortunately, the current admission criteria do not allow our athletes full opportunity to participate in international competitions held under the auspices of international sports federations, since some of the conditions contradict Russian legislation. Consequently, if no changes occur, the chances of participation will be extremely low,» Salnikov noted.
