ST. PETERSBURG, March 6 In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, four underground weapons workshops were liquidated as part of a criminal investigation into illegal arms trafficking , reports the press service of the FSB Directorate for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
«Four clandestine workshops with specialized equipment for the manufacture and modernization of firearms were discovered and liquidated,» the report says.
It is noted that it was possible to discover illegal workshops and illegally stored weapons as part of operational measures previously initiated under parts 3 and 5 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal trafficking in weapons, main parts of firearms, ammunition, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) criminal case.
«At the places of residence of persons with criminal connections, the following were discovered and seized from illegal circulation: two submachine guns (Shpagina, Dyagtereva), two Kalashnikov assault rifles, four rifles and a carbine (Mosina, Mauser, Simonova-SKS , «Khatsan»), nine pistols and revolvers (PM, TT, Nagan, Walter, «Grand Power», Yarygina) with restored combat properties, a hunting pump-action shotgun of an unknown model without permits, about 7.2 thousand rounds of various calibers, two kilogram of explosives, a significant number of main parts and components of firearms,” added the press service of the regional FSB Directorate.
