Conductor Bashmet spoke about the role of the World Youth Festival in music

SIRIUS, March 5The World Youth Festival (WYF) unites musicians from different countries, this is the basis for ensuring that culture does not perish, said conductor Yuri Bashmet.
«This is the basis so that culture does not perish. If culture perishes, we will die, because without culture it is impossible,» Bashmet told reporters at the World Youth Festival.
He noted that on Tuesday, participants from 26 countries played at the festival as part of the World Orchestra — this, he said, means that culture and music unite. “Culture will win, which means we will win,” Bashmet emphasized.
