The obituary posted on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation states that “the Department of Linguistic Support with deep regret reports that as a result of a monstrous terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall on March 22, 2024, 1st category specialist DLO Tatyana Alekseevna Repina (2001-2024) tragically died.” The document states that she was born on May 18, 2001 in Moscow; after graduating from the College of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2021, she joined the department.
“Tatiana managed to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for only a short time, but in the memory of those who knew her she will remain a bright, kind and cheerful person. She was diligent in her duties, was interested in music and reading, received higher education in absentia, made big plans for the future, but in an instant, all her dreams were destroyed by the hands of terrorists,” the Foreign Ministry said. “We deeply mourn together with our family and friends. The bright memory of Tatyana Alekseevna Repina will forever remain in our hearts,” the ministry concluded.
The shooting and fire occurred on the evening of March 22 before a concert at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk near Moscow. A correspondent who witnessed the incident reported that several men in camouflage and without masks burst into the hall, they shot people at point-blank range and threw incendiary bombs.
According to the latest data from the Investigative Committee, 139 people died. The editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and the RT television channel, Margarita Simonyan, reported that the number of victims had risen to 143. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 152 people were injured as a result of the terrorist attack. The twenty-fourth of March was declared a day of national mourning.
Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that all four perpetrators of the terrorist attack were found and detained — they tried to escape and moved towards Ukraine, where for them with the Ukrainian sides prepared a “window” for crossing the border. The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that these were foreigners. The President noted that a total of 11 people were detained, and security forces are working to uncover the entire terrorist base. According to the FSB, the weapons used by the terrorists were prepared in advance in a cache.
