WASHINGTON, March 30 The American telecom operator AT&T admitted the leak of personal data of 73 million of its customers.
The press release said that two weeks ago, personalized information related to the company's 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former subscribers, including Social Security numbers, appeared on the dark web.
“
"At this time, AT&T sees no signs of unauthorized access to its systems that would lead to the extraction of the data set. The company proactively interacts with those affected (by the leak. — Ed.),” the statement said.
Experts believe that the database that ended up on the darknet dates back to 2019 . AT&T cannot yet determine where the leak occurred — within itself or through the dealer network.
