MAKHACHKALA, April 1 Two of the three detained in Dagestan on suspicion of terrorist activities are from Central Asia, a source in the republic’s law enforcement agencies said.
On Sunday morning, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) reported that special forces blocked terrorists in apartments in residential areas of Makhachkala and Kaspiysk. In the area where the criminals were detected, the legal regime of a counter-terrorist operation (CTO) was introduced.
Later, NAC announced the detention of three bandits who were planning to commit a number of terrorist crimes. There were no casualties among law enforcement personnel, and no civilians were injured. At 12.00 Moscow time the CTO regime was stopped. The head of the region, Sergei Melikov, said that the criminals were identified, among other things, as part of strengthening security after the terrorist attack in the Moscow region.
“One of the detainees is from Dagestan, two are from Central Asia,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
