MOSCOW, April 1 2006 Olympic champion in dancing on ice Roman Kostomarov told how his friends made fun of him after his illness.
Kostomarov was admitted to intensive care with pneumonia on January 10, 2023 and spent 175 days in the clinic. Due to the necrosis that developed, he underwent several amputations of his arms and legs. Later, he began to publish videos of training after prosthetics.
“
“Max Stavisky constantly teases me: “Your parking is free, you don’t need a manicure-pedicure, your feet don’t sweat, you don’t need socks.” I say: “You need socks on your hands,” the skater said on the air of “The Will Show.”
Kostomarov also noted that the time he spends without prosthetics is the hardest for him.
«»When you're on your feet, you feel like a full-fledged person. When you come home and unfasten everything, you realize that you're like a cockroach on your back that can't turn over. And in the morning you feel like that too. Then, when you've put everything on, you ride car, you feel normal, you live. In everyday life, the most difficult thing is to put it all on,» he added.
On December 17, Kostomarov went out on ice in public for the first time on skates as part of a show dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Ilya Averbukh, he took part in a shared room with his wife. Later, Kostomarov took to the ice with Tatyana Navka, with whom he won Olympic gold. The skaters performed the «Carmen» program — with this free dance they won the Games in Italy.
