Commuters are facing a new round of strikes as London Underground drivers are set to bring Tube services to a near-total halt during spring strikes.

Aslef staff are facing two 24-hour strikes over a long-running dispute over conditions, the first of which will hit the capital next week.

Transport for London has warned passengers to expect “severe disruption to the London Underground network” as very few services are running.

Here's everything you need to know about the strikes:

When will the strikes take place?

Aslef members will walk out for two days in April and May after 70% of its drivers voted 98% in favor of strikes. The union declined to say how many drivers are expected to take part in the strike these days.

    Dates:

    • Monday, April 8
    • Saturday, May 4

    Which lines will be affected?

Aslef Drivers operate across the entire London Underground network, with the exception of a few lines.

The Elizabeth Line will continue to operate during the strikes as its drivers are represented by the TSSA union.

London Overground Docklands expected The light railway will also operate as usual.

However, these lines are likely to be very crowded.

TfL has warned that services not affected will not operate after 7pm. It also said subway train services “may begin later than usual” on Tuesday, April 9, the day after the first strike. He doesn't expect good service until mid-morning.

    What is TfL's advice?

Transport for London has called on union bosses to negotiate to try to avoid a strike.

A spokesman said: “We are engaged in long-term discussions with our union colleagues about how to modernize procedures and processes across London Underground to improve the experience for both staff and customers.”

“ We have no plans to implement these changes and are committed to ensuring that no one loses their job as a result of these changes. We are working with our unions to demonstrate that no changes will be made that would jeopardize our unwavering commitment to safety on the Tube network.

“We urge Aslef to continue negotiations with us so that disruption for Londoners can be prevented. “

Ahead of next week's strike, TfL has sent out an email to passengers warning: “If these strikes continue, there will be major disruption to the London Underground network, with little or no service expected his absence.”

“There will be no other TfL services. are on strike, but they will be busier than usual and queuing systems may also be in place.”

TfL pointed customers to its journey planning tool, adding that alternatively they could walk or cycle .

Why is Aslef going on strike?

Finn Brennan, Aslef's organizer on the Tube, said Transport for London (TfL) had not given assurances that changes to terms and conditions would not be made without consent.< /p>< p>He said: “Despite a previous commitment to abandon plans for major changes to drivers' working conditions, London Underground bosses have put in place a full-time management team ready to impose their plans.”

“They want drivers to work longer , spend 25% more time in the cubicle, and ditch all current work arrangements in the name of flexibility and efficiency.

“Everyone knows what those management buzzwords really mean. It's about getting people to work harder and longer for less money.”
